Eighteen year old Kevin McGuire is fighting cancer for the second time in his life. Diagnosed with leukemia at the age of thirteen. By 2010, the high school football player had officially beaten the disease. According to the Huffington Post, Kevin recently learned that his cancer is back, and the drugs that could save him are in short supply.
But even with all of the struggles he’s facing, Kevin still has one dream that can come true…If only we can spread the word. Kevin wants to take his crush, Taylor Swift, to his prom. His sister Victoria set up a Facebook page to help make Kevin’s dream date a reality.
“Through out his ups and downs Kevin never even questioned “why me?,” Victoria wrote on his Facebook wall to which 8,268 people have subscribed. “Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin’s day more than Taylor Swift. Teen Battling Cancer Asks Taylor Swift to High School Prom
Kevin McGuire, a Stratford teen battling cancer, asked Taylor Swift to be his date for the prom on June 1. The busy singer replied with a message on her Facebook that read, "Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards are coming up. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor."
McGuire, 18, is currently being treated at a Philadelphia hospital for leukemia a second time, and gladly accepted the exciting offer. He said the ACM, held in Las Vegas, is "a lot better than the senior prom."
However, he also acknowledged, "I'm sick and I'm not sure if I'm able to."
The prom date idea started after Kevin's older sister Victoria created a Facebook page intended to catch Swift's attention, but unexpectedly reached 60,000 supporters by Thursday night.

“Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom,” the country superstar wrote on her Facebook page. “But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up … Would you be my date? Love, Taylor.”
Kevin, a Somerdale, New Jersey high school football star, has an excellent wing woman to thank for this development. His sister Victoria is actually responsible for starting the Facebook page, inviting the ‘Ours’ singer to Kevin’s prom.
“Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin’s day more than Taylor Swift,” Victoria writes on the Facebook page, which was first publicized by HuffPost Impact. “Kevin DESERVES more than anyone a special event in his life.”
She went on to call the varsity football player, the “kindest, most noble 18 year old a person could fathom meeting.” Despite his years of chemo, spinal taps and bone marrow screenings, the resilient teen has stayed active with at Sterling High School, playing football and basketball. According to his sister, though, he’s never asked, ‘Why me?’

Initially Taylor was asked by the 18-year-old cancer patient’s sister to accompany her brother to his prom, but the country singer could not attend due to scheduling conflicts, so she instead did the next best thing…
Taylor seems like such a good person, doesn’t she? The philanthropic singer has plenty of good deeds under her belt, including organizing a tornado relief concert to help the victims of the tornado disasters last year and donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Red Cross to help those affected by the floods in Iowa back in 2008… and now she can add one more.
It all started when a fan named Victoria McGuire created a Facebook page—which went viral overnight and has since garnered support from over 100,000 Facebook users—to plead with the “Sparks Fly” singer to accompany her cancer-stricken brother, Kevin, to his prom on June 1. On the page, Victoria wrote:

Finally getting a break from her “The Lorax” press efforts, Taylor Swift used her well-deserved downtime to tend to a few household needs in Beverly Hills, CA on Friday (February 24).
The Grammy-winning artist weaved her way up and down the aisles at a local Ralphs Supermarket while loading up her cart and hitting the checkout counter.
Miss Swift’s grocery loadup comes just after it was reported that she’s once again shown her good nature by inviting an 18-year-old cancer patient named Kevin McGuire to be her date to the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on April 1st.
The invitation came after Taylor was propositioned via a Facebook page created by Kevin’s sister, Victoria, asking the”Mean” singer to take her ill brother to their school’s prom.
